So, you are new to Proboards and aren't sure how this whole member profile business works?
You see other people using caps and spaces in their usernames but can't figure out how?
Want to upload your avatar, signature, personal text with the correct settings to make them look just right?
Look no further! Below are all the explanations you need... and if not, feel free to leave your questions in a reply.
1. Registering Your Account
As you might have noticed, you cannot register account names that use capital letters, numbers or spaces. However, do not fear! Once you have registered, there is a way to change your display name to anything you want!
2. Finding and Editing your Account
As the image points out, the link to your profile is located amongst the others (Home, Search, Members, etc) above the site banner.
It will take you to your profile.
To edit it, click the Modify Profile link.
3. Display Names, Avatars, Signatures and Personal Text
The fourth box down, called Display Name, is the one you need! Enter your character's name there, you can now use caps and spaces.
A bit further down you will find the place where you can upload an avatar, add a signature banner and enter a short message as your personal text.
Note! This is not the same as a custom title, which can only be edited by Staff.
Avatars cannot be larger than 100x100 pixels. Additionally, the forum automatically defaults them to 65x65 pixels - to avoid that, enter the number 100 in the Height and Width boxes just underneath.
Signatures can contain text or images. Coding can be used to change colours and the like.
A regular signature banner should look like this:
[ center ][ img ]http://www.yourpicture.jpg[ /img ][ /center ] minus the spaces.
